Junior coaching sessions have started again. These are held on Saturday mornings. The younger ones' session is from 10:30 to 11:30; the older ones' session is from 11:45 to 12:45. If there is sufficient interest, there may be a midweek session as well - enquiries to Errol.
Worcestershire Junior County Closed Squash Championship
We had another good result at the Worcestershire Junior County Closed Squash Championship
in September.
Out of four events contested, we came away with two firsts and a second - not bad!
Matthew Powell got off to a good start, winning his
first round U17s match 3-1, but was beaten in the next round in
straight games by the eventual tournament winner.
Milly Barlow won the Girls U15 (and a squash racket!). Milly had to come back from two down and use all her fitness to take it 3-2.
Clare Heneghan won the Girls U13 for the second year in a
row - very convincingly (3-0 in all her
matches). She won yet another racket. Bett Dryhurst (the
organiser) was very amused when Clare went up to her afterwards and said as she had won so many squash rackets - could she have a (second prize) squash bag this time instead!!
Jessie Barlow played well and probably deserved to be second in the
Girls U13, but as she was in Clare's half, she didn't get through to the finals - unlucky.
Thomas Heneghan was Runner Up in the U9 mixed. He played really well,
had some great rallies, and showed an amazing turn of speed
across the court. Considering they were using a different ball
from the one he's used
to, it was an excellent result.

Inter County Championships 2004-2005
There is a U15 Girls practice/selection in Stourport on Oct 9th. Enquiries to Nigel Stone.
There is a U13 Girls practice/selection in Evesham on Oct 23rd. Enquiries to Paul Heneghan
The county is sponsoring tracksuits for the juniors. They cost £30 and the county will pay half. John Oakley (Manor Park) is organising this. There is a downloadable spreadsheet (tracksuits.xls) which shows the dimensions (imperial and metric). If you can't view Excel files, then you can see them in pdf form - tracksuits(inches).pdf and tracksuits(cm).pdf.
