Welcome to Evesham SquashWelcome to Evesham Squash, the Squash Section of Evesham Rowing Club, the very first Club in the country to be awarded the England Squash Club Charter Bronze Award. We have just fulfilled the requirements of the Silver Award, and are working towards our Gold Award! Membership and facilitiesEvesham Rowing Club, which is owned by its members, has three modern Squash courts, recently refurbished to the highest standards, with over 120 squash playing members, ladies, gentlemen and juniors of all levels of skill, ranging from beginners to county players. Members are graded in accordance with England Squash standards, and membership is open to all who love the games of Squash and Racketball. Membership also includes individual membership of England Squash. Special terms are available for families and juniors, and for members who wish to take up the other major Club sports of Tennis and Rowing. Court fees are 10p for a 45 minute session, and courts can be booked by members up to three weeks ahead. Access to the club and courts is by means of a 'smart' membership card. TeamsThe Club has two or three Men's teams and one Ladies' team competing in the Worcestershire County leagues. The men's first team usually finishes towards the top of the premier division. In addition there are two Veterans' teams (Men over 45, Ladies over 40) in the Gloucestershire Veterans Squash league. Coaching is available, by arrangement, from qualified England Squash coaches, who also organise team training sessions for the team squads and those close to team standard. Club NightClub Night is held every Thursday evening from 7.30 pm, and is open to players of all standards. This is an excellent opportunity for potential new members to meet players of their own level of skill, whether beginners, improvers or team players, in a relaxed and friendly environment. CompetitionsThe Club Championship is held annually, together with a Handicap competition, a Restricted tournament for non team players, and Plate events for 1st round losers. There are also Doubles, and Racketball competitions, and periodical 'fun' events such as 'lefties' against 'righties'. There is a Ladder and, from time to time, ladder leagues. Junior SquashJunior Squash welcomes young persons between the ages of 8 and 18, every Saturday morning, and now includes over 20 members, working for England Squash Unsquashable and Star awards. The juniors play in the Worcestershire Leagues, and many have been selected to play for the county, or even the region. Social ActivitiesThe Club's licensed bar is open to members every weekday evening from 7.30 pm, and social events are held most weekends, either in the downstairs bar area, or in the larger upstairs function room, overlooking the river. Social activities also include Snooker, Darts, Crib, Table tennis, Rafting and Quizzes, and there is a training gymn, with weight lifting and ergo equipment available for use by all members qualified to do so.
