Squash Section Report to the Executive Committee
3rd October, 2002
Squash Activities
Brett Green will continue as captain of the Men's 1st team in the new season,
with Martin Whiting and Ben Salcedo taking charge of the 2nd and 3rd teams
respectively. Lorna Thompson (nee Robinson) will again captain the Ladies team.
John Lowe will be taking over the Veterans' A team from Rob Fitzmaurice, who is
out of action for three months, following an operation, and Jonathan Bomford and
I will continue with the Veterans B and C teams. Team matches start this week.
The Handicap Competition will take place in November, and will, as usual, be
followed by the Section AGM. Dates will be posted shortly. At the end of
November, we are hosting an England Squash Assistant coaching course.
The Evesham & Pershore Housing Association Social Club has expressed an
interest in using the squash courts at lunch time. We have offered them off peak
membership at half the normal rate, and are awaiting their response. We hope
that this will be more successful than the arrangement with Evesham High School,
which came to nothing.
The Bookings book has been moved to the Squash Gallery, initially on an
experimental basis. The area by the Squash notice board frequently becomes very
crowded early evening, and we trust that club members will be able to find spare
pens elsewhere! The table has also been removed for the time being.
The Juniors will be participating in the recently formed Worcestershire
County Junior League. In response to several requests, Errol is planning to
introduce a regular weekly late afternoon coaching session for Juniors unable to
attend on Saturdays.

There have been no developments or progress since the last meeting.
